Playing with the Canon 50mm f/1.8 II

For Christmas I received the canon 55mm f/1.8 II lens. It’s one of the cheaper lenses currently on the market, but its optics belie its lowly price. This has instantly become one of my favourite lenses, and has stayed mounted ever since receiving it.
Optically, it is a great lens that provides strong contrast, good colour rendition, and a very sharp image even when shooting wide open. I have heard many other photographers say that this is a lens for when the quality of the shot “really matters.” I now understand why.
