I was recently introduced to the swiss artist Felice Varini and was instantly captivated by his work.
Varini has been creating these incredible site specific geometric paintings for over thirty years. He uses projectors and stencils to create these optical illusions, which require viewers to look at the work from a very specific view point in order to be able to actually “see” the art. If the viewer is even slightly off, the piece becomes fragmented and appears to be nothing more than weird, shapes thrown around at random.
I love the ability of his work to not only bind structures and spaces together, but to control the viewers very placement within a space.
